His mother had green eyes and father has brown. Will out baby also have green eyes. He has two other kids that have brown eyes, they're mother is white but has brown eyes. What are the chances of his father's dominate brown eyes passing to our baby? Just curious

It is very possible that your baby will have green eyes, but it is also possible for a recessive gene to cause the baby's eyes to end up being something you totally didn't expect. All 3 of mine have blue or blue-gray eyes and I have brown as does their biological father. However, their great-great grandfather had blue-gray eyes so I guess they could have come from him. I'm not an expert however. I hope that your baby had beautiful eyes and good luck with your pregnancy!!

Happy Holidays!!!

The genetics of eye color are complicated. (A new study just came out this week about it, but it's WAY too much to try to summarize here. Google it, if you're really interested.)

A more personal answer: I have green eyes, and so does my husband. My mother has green eyes, my father has blue eyes, and all of my siblings have either green or blue eyes. Same on my husband's side of the family.

One of our daughters has green eyes; the other has blue.

Brown tends to trump everything else, but not always.

I'm not sure without plotting it out on a Mendel chart, but I can say this: my husband and I both have brown eyes and our baby came up with blue eyes, which haven't been on either side for 2 or 3 generations. So sometimes it really is luck of the draw.
