For example, I dated a guy who said he had a Camaro, snowmobile, etc... but didn't. I also know a guy who claims his grandma was an indian princess or something... everyone knows they're lying. Why do they do it?

because they are insecure about themselves & have to hide behind a fake story to try impress someone, or some people think that to have alot of possessions will impress people, which is sad

One possibility is they may feel bad about who they are or, moreover who they think they are. What they fail to realize is that what they think is not always the truth. (Just because you think it, doesn’t make it true.) They fear that people will not like them for who they really are (or who they themselves think they are) so they make things up to impress you. However, it is self-defeating behavior because once they are discovered to be a liar people tend to reject them, thus causing what they feared in the first place.

I bet your the only person on earth that does'nt lie and has never once lied. Answer your own question, remember the last time you liead and ask yourself why you did it. Probably to make yourself look better to the person you lied to or to better your story.
