After clearing my search history, why do some links still appear "purple" and clicked? I?

I've gone to tools/internet options, and cleared history and deleted files and cookies. I've also used a program that deletes history. Why do some links still appear to have been clicked?

have you deleted all offline content as well in the files option, you should get a program called ccleaner, it is free and is very good at cleaning out all your files and cookies, saaves you doing each bit individually, i highly reccomend it
