I went to the OB today and apparently, I am 5 weeks pregnant. I took the home pregnancy test on Saturday, which came out positive, only to get into a car accident on Saturday evening. Luckily, I feel fine. No broken bones or bruises, externally, at least. The fact that miscarriages are so common is causing me to stress out! I know I shouldn't stress, because it's bad for the baby, but being that it's my first, I can't help it. I used to be extremely tired all day, even after sleeping 10 hours each night before, but this tiredness seems to have disappeared the past few days. No morning sickness. Only sore breasts when touched. I don't have any cramping, either, so I'm trying to rule out a miscarriage. Is it possible to have miscarriages without the cramping? I've heard that it could take up to 3 weeks before you start to bleed out the miscarriage. I had one slight cramp yesterday, but it only lasted for a second, so I'm guessing that's just my body stretching. Am I being too paranoid?

If you're feeling worried about it, try talking to your OB. They may consent to do an ultrasound or an HcG comparison level to double check which may reassure you.

I panicked with my beautiful boy every twinge, as I had previously had a miscarriage - some "cramping" is actually, as you said, ligaments stretching or the like.

Morning sickness is one of those tricky things. Sometimes it comes and goes. I had none till I hit about 10 weeks, then wham, all the time. Sore breasts, the same way.

It's possible that changes do indicate a problem, but it could also just be that the increased adrenaline in your body from stressing over it is countering some of the HcG's tiring effects. It is okay to be a little paranoid over your baby, I would worry if you weren't. I would recommend going to see your OB, though, because if you don't you'll keep worrying and there may be absolutely no reason to. And if there is, you'd probably be better knowing than not. I realize that you may have difficulty right at this time of year, but try to get in ASAP. Having been in a car accident is a perfectly legitimate reason to be examined, as the lap belt and everything else does pose a risk, so even if you have to debate it with your insurance company they will have to concede that point.

If you were & you should have been seen at the hospital why weren't you given a ultrasound to check your baby's well being..and also why did they not order any blood work, like hcg quantitive? When your in any serious accident..and even though you say you are externally fine you should have not left the Dr's until you had piece of mind.Though you say you are not cramping or anything which is good..try not to stress either..and if you start to experience any bleeding ro severe cramping then its best you head to the ER..but if all else is fine I would still call your doctor and ask him to do an ultrasound and order blood work just to see if the baby is fine..trust me you will feel better.Take care and congratulations on your pregnancy!

You are probably fine but you really should see your Dr. again (since the accident) but dont worry about until then. And if the tiredness and the morning sickness has gone away then just be thankful...;-)
Just take it easy...you dont seem to have any symptoms of a miscarrage. Our bodies are made to deal with accidents like that. I mean your body is protecting your baby with everything it has right now and the last thing it wants is to loose the baby so just relax and make an appointment just to be careful, even if its just for the Dr. to tell you that everything is ok and to put your mind at ease.

Try to relax!! Believe me I know how hard it is, but more than likely you would be bleeding if you were having a miscarriage. If your still very nervous, go back to the doctor and he will tell you for sure. Like you said, you don't want to stress too much, so maybe a doctor visit will help reassure you and calm you down! Good luck hun!!

i think you will be just fine. i had a misscarrage two years back and from like week 8 i started bleeding very lightly, i went to the doctor, they said it was normal. i bleed like that for about three more weeks until it started coming down really bad. it was bright red with tissue and alot of cramps, it was horrible. basiclly, what i am trying to say is..you would know if something is wrong!

just pay attention to how you are feeling and DON'T stress. I was super tired, etc my first month as well.....then that went away and I started a LONG streak of nesting, hee hee. You will get those slight cramps here and there. they will probably freak you out...I know I was freaked and certain something was wrong. but, it was just my body stretching out.....I didn't have the same issues with my 2nd time around. just take it easy, take care of YOU and that will be taking care of baby. pamper yourself. enjoy this time. it is such a blessing to be part of a miracle...that tiny person in your belly......good luck......no worries :o)

I think it's better to be safe than sorry. I suggest you go and see your OB/GYN and make sure your baby is fine. A life is a very precious thing and I believe it is up to us to make sure we can do everything we can to protect our chidren from any harm. Be responsible and do the right thing, go see your doc. If not for your peace of mind, then do it for the baby you are carrying inside you - just in case.....Good Luck and take care....

if you have been to the doctor & they didn't raise concerns, i wouldn't worry. at the early stages of pregnancy you are going to be extremely tired. well throughout the pregnancy you will but it's noticeable at the beginning. you may cramp a little because your uterus is expanding. if you feel slight cramping, drink water & lay down on your left side. my doctor reccomended that to me after i had a spotting scare. congratualtions!

You shouldn't be worried - at this early stage, the baby is so well protected inside of you that it's virtually impossible for a fender bender to have any impact on the growing baby (at 5 weeks).

You need to relax. you r fine. The baby is fine and well protected. I was in a wreck early in pregancy-u r fine-the baby is fine- but convince yourself. I have even slipped and fell hard-the baby was fine. So try to relax about it--that will be the best thing you can do for yourself and the baby.
