As in most sports afl is a variation or more correctly bastardisation of another sport. This is how rugby started and afl started...from soccer.

One day the owner of the ball just picked it up and ran with it cause the other blokes were waxing the ball and not letting the owner have a fair go.
Now the bloke that invented afl was the only aussie in the park....the rest werte Vietnamese and Greek kids.....all refugees looking for new homeland and getting the dole while saving to own a fish and chip shop or a fresh fruit shop.......con the fruiterer is a direct decendant from that era.
So all the mongrols wetre waxing the ball so he picked it up too...
but being a real chicken xxxx and not wanting to get bashed he kicked the crap out of the leather........all the others stood by while the ball sailed high and over...when all of a sudden he shouted out...............(you ready for this???)
AUSSIE RULES hahahahahha

this promoted another saying against asians
2 wongs dont make a white.

William Buckley, the wild white man, who lived with the Aborigines around Geelong between 1803 and 1836. Before being transported from England as a convict, he had been a soldier in the British Army where he he played rugby and gaelic football. When he reached Port Philip Bay in 1803 he escaped custody and began living with the Wathaurong tribe who called him Murrungurk. Buckley became an elder of the tribe and taught them a version of football using a possum skin filled with charcoal. He invented this game as an alternative tribal warfare so the tribes could sort out their differences without using spears and clubs.

Mate their is an American league and apparently it is quite competitive. I believe also that their is a league in England. Their is also a league in NZ and South Africa. The game originated in the mid eighteen hundreds, as a way of keeping cricketers fit throughout the winter months. The first game was played on a ground that had the scoring ends over a mile apart. From memory it was 36 players a side and you had to win by two goals . It took a couple weekends before they could declare a winner. I would suggest that you google an american AFL site, as I know most major cities in the US do have a team. I hope you find what your looking for and welcome you to the greatest game on earth(in My Opinion), remember to train hard, play fair, and above all else enjoy yourself. Cheers mate.
