I think the best way to keep a long friendship is to keep the communication lines open, honesty, trust, and the fact that you are comfortable around this person. I have a really close male friend whom I keep in contact with almost everyday. We trust each other and we don't keep secrets from one another. We have been friends for 4 long wonderful years now and it is still going strong. As long as you talk to your friend and still keep in touch, you will maintain that long friendship. Best of luck to you and I hope my advice helps you.

The best way to keep a long friendship is to make sure that you are always making time for the other person, atleast as much as possible. Let them know that you are there for them, and that you stand behind any decisions they make. Also, don't talk crap about them behind their back...if something is bothering you that they have done or said let them know, not the rest of the world. Honesty is always the best policy!!

Keep in touch, but not so often that you want to pull eachother's hair out. Me and my best friend Renee (Sexy Muskrat<3 on Yahoo! Answers) visit eachother once in 3 months (approximately). We've been best friends for a strong 3-4 years. We do go to different highschools and now have different friends, but we are still strong and going! (We sound like a couple). Call occasionally (3-5 times a week/ once a day) to ask how she/he's doing in school, etc. Or what's been up with them. You know?
I did have this best friend for 10+ years, but that didn't work out 'cause she went psycho-freaky on me and I was like, girl, you have to go).
Hope this helped! Best of luck!

to keep a long friendship you really just need to be yourself and be friends with alot of people so that you can just be yourself around them that way if you start faking yourself...like acting like someone your not then one day you will change and they might not like you anymore so it is just good to start out from the beginnign and be yourself....also don't be very selfish
