remember- metaphor is without like or as.

"The dull precious metal seemed to flash with a reflection of her bright and ardent spirit."

This is a metaphor since it is comparing two items a) the flash of the metal and b) her spirit...and treating them as identical.

Another metaphor, which isn't quite so apparent is:

"It reached below her knee and made itself almost a garment for her."

Where "it" is her hair, being compared to "a garment".
