Do you think it's because we're the only industrialized country where we pay for our own healthcare, and healthcare is a privledge and not a right? Do you think your doctor would tell you the factory a half a mile upwind from your home caused your respiratory illness, if his "staff hospital" and malpractice insurance provider told him not to tell you? Do you trust your US doctor? Why or why not?

Because there is no money in prevention. The medical industry makes loads of cash off sick people. Also, I disagree that the medical system is looking for cures. In reality, they are looking for ways to manage disease. Cures aren't nearly as profitable especially if they are natural and cannot be patented.

If you think the major causes of illness in the U.S. are the result of toxic fumes or chemicals, you must be sniffing some of those toxic fumes or chemicals.

However, if you are convinced that this is the case, then your gripe is with the EPA and not the chemical industry. The EPA, DEP, and DOB are in charge of monitoring the negative outputs of the chemical industry (or industry in general).

Now, you seem to believe that there is some conspiracy between industry, health care insurance carriers, and doctors. Please, do not imagine that you are the only person on the planet with a conscience or a sense of ethics.

While I will agree that there are issues in poor urban areas and clean air, water, etc, but that is the result of the poor not willing to converge on city hall to eliminate the polluting culprits. But this is not a conspiracy, its actually an "open conspiracy", cause everyone knows that factories are usually built in poor urban areas, since the land is cheap, and the residents are not politically savvy to solve the problem of pollution in their area.

Because their expertise is in curing. What do you want doctors to do, go around shutting down factories? Isn't that a better job for community leaders instead of doctors? Let doctors cure, community leaders should be handling the political b.s.

Because preventionis prohibted by the FDA...seriously.

by law a doctor cannot prescribe anything that is not classified as a drug. therefore, if say, we find that vitamin c cures cancer, a doctor cannot legally tell you to take vitamin C for your cancer as it is not designated as a drug.

Why this law?

because the drug companies lobbied for it and bought off all the right people.

Therefore doctor cannot be trusted as they are not ALLOWED to tell you the truth about illnesses and cures.

The simple truth is MOST of Americans ailments come from what we eat...processed food.

For example, we have all heard the story about someones grandfather who ate a steak everyday and lived well into his 90's. This is NOT an old wives take. Past generations COULD eat steak everyday because red meat wasnt as unhealthy for us as it is today.

Why?

The difference is in the past cows were put out to pasture to graze ( as god/nature intended ) today cows are fed cornmeal in order to fatten them up more quickly. because cows never ate cornmeal in nature they dont process it well and their meat is therefore 10 times more unhealthy for us than if the cows had been grass fed.

but its 100 times cheaper and more profitable to feed them cornmeal.

So we live unhealthy lives and die all in the name of profit.

I wonder why the government is spending more than $400 billion a year via medicare and medicaid if we pay for own healthcare. If you know the causes of different illness, please share them with the NIH.

Eliminating the causes cost money.
Finding cures brings in money.

Because, in most cases we are not in a position to eliminate the causes. They do not originate in the US.

Because we are all lazy, and prevention is a lot more work than just having a new drug to pump into our bodies to make us better.
