My computer desktop was on stand by for a while.

I looked at the computer monitor and notice the light was off.
I tried to turn it back on, but the power button wouldn't go on.

I tried pulling out the plug and plugged it back in, but it still woudn't turn on. What's wrong?

It's an HP Pavilion 533w computer.

I don't think there's anything wrong w/ my
PC system. It's just the monitor.

First make sure the receptacle is good. My next guess would be the power supply took a dump. If you arent seeing or hearing any activity, lights, beeps, noises, etc, it aint just your monitor!

You should specify what type of Windows you have. Or Mac, whatever. Something's wrong with your monitor settings. You should try restarting your computer in Safe Mode. It wouldn't help so much if you can't see what's going on. Tap F8 as your computer boots up then wait a sec then press Down and Enter. See of you monitor comes up or not.

Hi,

In short, your monitor may have blown a fuse somewhere. If that's the case, you should either replace it or get it fixed.

To be sure it's not your PC system itself, you may want to plug the sytem into another monitor to ensure that it's not your system that's causing the problem.

Restart your PC and the go to Control Panel -> Power Options-> Select "Never" in all the three drop down menus. Click Apply and then OK.
Next time you will not have this probelm. Its that your system had stopped responding.
