Set up maintenance wizard to do this for you once per week.
1. Delete unnecessary files (temporary Internet files, etc)
2. De fragment hard drive
3. Scan disk
These three items are in the maintenance wizard and can be set up to run automatically at any specified time. I love it. Access by clicking on "start" scroll up to "programs" scroll up to "accessories" slide over to "system tools" scroll to "maintenance wizard and then follow the instructions. Hope this helps

"kinda slow" is your perception. But here are a few things you can do.
1. Increase the memory. It dramatically improves the speed.
2. Do Defrag. Go Start ->Run->type in the box, 'defrag'-> and it will do the job. Depending on the size of the hard drive, it may take about 30-45 minutes. Just go have a cuppa coffee and come back, it will be done.
3. If you are doing step 2 above, then do this first: Delete temporary files -> in IE 6, Tools ->Internet options -> delete cookies, delete files, delete history . (in IE 7, delete all. This is safe to do so).
This should 'kinda' speed it up. But increasing memory is your best bet.

Go to "Tools" click on "Internet options" click on the "Delete" button where it says "Delete Temporary files". If you have windows xp another window will pop up. Click on every place that says "delete" in that drop down box. or click on the bottom of the box where it says "Delete All".
That's everything you can safely do to speed you up a little unless you get a broadband connection. You should delete these same files about every 30 days to keep your computer running smoothly. You should also do a disk defragmentation.
To defragment your hard drive you have a program that does this for you. Click on "Start" then " click on "all programs" go to "Accessories" then click on " System Tools" then click on the button that says "disk defragmentor" . Click on the button that says "Defragment". The computer will run the program. It may take a while depending on the condition of the hard drive, but let it run until you see the button that says "Finish" Click on that. After doing all that you should shut down and re-start the computer. It should be running a lot better. If in doubt look up this information on the Internet and follow the instructions. To look it up type in "computer system maintenance" click the one you want to use and follow their instructions. Good luck. It's easy, just print and follow these instructions.
Adios

i would try uninstalling programs, deleting files that you dont need, and if this doesnt work, go to the notification area in the bottom right hand side of the screen, and close the ones that you are not using. However, never close an antivirus program, or one that you do not know what it is. If this doesnt work, go to start-run-and type:"msconfig" then go to the startus tab, and untick any of the object there that you do not use. Once again, make sure you dont untick any antivirus programs or programs that you do not know what they are.
Finally, if this doesnt help, i recommend that you either store your unwanted data on an external hard drive, or discs. Otherwise, you may need a new computer, or you may need to upgrade your current one.

Ok, here goes in a nutshell...
1) Buy more RAM/MEMORY
2) Click START, then RUN, type in MSCONFIG, run along the tabs and click START UP, then select DISABLE ALL (this helps the computer start up faster.)
3)Delete unused programs /softwares through CONTROL PANEL's ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
4)Also delete Temporary Internet files via INTERNET OPTIONS
5) Run Norton Antivirus to make sure it's not some computer bug slowing you down.
Hope this works for you.

Get a better cooling system for your CPU, RAM, and Mainboard.
OverClock your CPU with a software tool specifically. Overclock your RAM too. But be careful with overclocking software because if you over clock too much you can say by by, and end up needing to buy a new computer.
Upgrade your fan and heat sink to cool your CPU more. That will increase it functionality too.

Clean out your computer like deleting some pictures you don't want, games you don't play anymore, things you don't use. And defragment. Or you could go get it professionally cleaned out. I had that done and my computer went super-fast. It only cost like $40 or $50. Hope I helped.
