He was a brilliant secretary of the treasury.He was the the key man in washigton's cabin.He also was the one who Washington would listen to in the cabinet while Jefferson who was sec of state was ignored by Washington who disliked Jefferson.He was the leader of the Federalist.He made the central gov more powerfull and history proved that he was right and Jefferson was wrong.He was also very arrogant and high tempered and didn't know went to be quiet about attacks on him or his honor.

He's considered the father of the present Republican Party (then, the Federalist Party) favoured a strong central gov., had little faith in the common people to run the gov. His stronger opponent was Aaron Burr; they'd been sts together in NY. Both played an important part in the Revolution. In 1800, Burr was elected VP of the USA, and might have become President, if it hadn't been for Hamilton's influence against him. The election had ended in a tie vote and was decided in favour of Jefferson. He did the same in 1804 and challenged Hamilton to a duel, with the pretext of some Hamilton's declarations. Hamilton shot into the air, but Burr took careful aim and fired. Burr ran away to the South, was charged of murder, but was never brought to trial. People turned against him ; his career was ruined.
