actually , depending on what state it was in , keeping a ticket quota is illegal, and if your in an intersection and the light turns yellow, you can still pass, yellow doesnt mean stop , it just means slow down, and some cops dont understand that , all in all , if you passed the light before it turned red(no matter how close to red it was ) you have 6 seconds to cross the intersection , you should fight this

edit: you dont need a lawyer to fight a class 3 missdameanor, all you have to do is say "i didnt do it" if the ticket sticks ,take it to your states DOT department most traffic lights have cameras in them now

If your front wheels have passed the markings and entered the intersection while the lights were yellow, then you are legal providing you were not crawling at very slow speed through the intersection.

Tell the court you want a trial. Show up prepared to state your case. There is a chance the cop will not show up if he got lazy, sick, or had something else come up. If the cop doesn't show the judge will automatically dismiss your case and you get your bail back, and nothing goes on your driving record; end of case.

Was there a camera at the intersection? Have the driver show up to court on the date he's supposed to and hope the officer doesn't show up.

If the light was yellow he can give you a ticket because you probably had time to stop but did not. And if the light turned red while you were in the intersection, you definitely had time to stop and he can give a ticket. Yellow means slow down unless you absolutely cannot.

This is just how it all works....
Every judge I ever met says the same...
"A police officer is a trained observer."
If for some reason, you think you can fight this.
Please reconsider...your wasting your time.
These guys play golf together...
Hang out in the cop bar...
BBQ at each others house...
So how's your chance sounding now??
Keep your pride in tact, pay and go....
Take the traffic school..it's not that bad.
It's your insurance money, not the courts.
They are all playing on the same team,
there's nothing for you to win.....
