I have recently gotten into doing impersonations. What advice do you have for being able to make your voice match with someone elses. I'm 17 years old and male, incase this helps you with answering.

(I'm working on my Regis, if you want to help me with that specifically.)

I am someone who has done "nostalgic impersonations" for many years. From Sam Cooke to Elvis Presley the best way that I have found is to exaggerate the inflections, or particulars, of the person's voice. Sounds obvious, but for example, Elvis had this very specific way of trailing off the end of his lines. I have even heard Cher do it. First I heard the sound, then I figure out HOW it relates to HIS voice and then I do the same thing in my own voice. This will usually pull off the illusion better than simply trying to sound like someone. Look for the uniqueness in your target. A tape recorder will help you hear others perception of your imitation as well.

I think the only real way to perfect it is to practice. Try doing it with your head in a book. That way you can really hear yourself.
