A Real Estate Broker does exactly what his/her title says-helps people buy and sell real estate and property.

A Mortgage Broker does exactly what his/her title says-helps people get mortgages for properties.

It depends on the state you are in but in my state, you do NOT need your Realtors license to get a mortgage brokers license but you do need to know the business before you get in it.

A real estate broker has passed the educational requirements set forth by the state they reside in, and has been licensed.

A mortgage broker has also passed the educational requirments set forth by their state to be licensed.
In Florida you do not need to be licensed to do mortgages, if you work for a bank, or a corespondent lender.

As a mortgage broker, I see realtors making more money for less work. (or different work I should say) But I prefer the mortgages every time. Much more stress, but much less babysitting.

The Realtor sells the house and the mortgage broker finances the house. Yes, you need your real estate license to get your mortgage brokers license.
