If you are just a witness you can talk to whoever you want, when you want and about anything you want.

If anyone says otherwise, like the prosecutor, he's a liar.

On the other hand, if your stepdad has an attorney (your question makes it sounds as if he's accused) the prosecutor can't talk to him without your stepdad's attorney present.

Did you realise how criminal laws & courts restrict you. Why on the first instance you went to court even as a witness. There are things which can be sorted out out of love & affection. Courts do not have one.

Go and talk to your step father. No problem only if your step father complaints you are stalking, even then no issue as he is accused.

Only thing is you haviong talked to him and then raise a complaint that he stalked you then he is in for trouble.

You may say you are not that cheap but there are many people who do it this way and enjoy in the suffering of others.

So criminal & courts are tricky. Only the lay public who has no knowledge about criminal laws & court behaves will give you heaps of advice as if the police & courts are Harichandra or the truth holders. Infact they are the number one fraudsters and corrupt .

If you want to resolve things peacefully and beneficially never approch courts & police approach your inner self and speak to your step DAD.

No, you can speak to anyone you like about anything you like unless ordered by a court not to do so. You may be asked on the stand if you talked with your stepfather; you would have to explain that you did, and what you discussed.

Talk to his lawyer, arrange a visit that is supervised. Otherwise you could possible hurt his chances, or the prosecution.
