TURN OFF the fuse or circuit breaker to that light to prevent a short or electrical fire.
With the power OFF to that light circuit, remove the light fixture and drain any wateer out of the ceiling.
Follow instructions above to turn off water.
Look in the light fixture hoe and IFyou see there is a popped pipe in the ceiling , you may have to turn off your main water input for the house.
Remember water travels along surfaces - it may travel along a cross beam , pipe or electrical wire brfore dripping.

Turn your water off, and call a plumber. Why would you try and fix something, with advice from people online? The longer you wait, the worse the situation will get. The advice about poking holes is excellent advice. This will let the water drain out, and not build up in the ceiling. No matter what, some holes will have to be made to locate and repair the problem. Most plumbers will give you an idea of the cost, beforehand. My advice: don't call a plumber after normal working hours. Most will charge you an overtime rate, that could be very outrageous. You could ask first, if you can't wait until tomorrow, and see if their rates are different. Good luck to you!

No kidding, the same thing happened to me once. Turned out I had a water pipe break that froze from my upstairs bath and leaked through the ceiling. Had to get the water shut off, have the ceiling redone (thankfully just the section around the light), have the light re-wired and the pipe resoldered. What a mess! I send my condolences.

This could be very dangerous. if there's a room above the kitchen, go up there to see if you can find an obvious source, like water on the floor, a leaky toilet, etc. Turn off the circuit breaker that goes to that light and call a plumber first thing in the morning. Personally, I wouldn't touch the light at all. Let a professional handle it.

First thing you need to do is go upstairs and turn off (at the shut off valve) what is leaking (probably a toilet). Then I would drill holes in your ceiling to get the water out quickly and to keep it from spreading to another room. The holes are easy to patch AFTER everything is very very dry. If you don't drill the holes, you run the risk of the water getting too heavy and the possibility of your ceiling coming down.

It could be a lot of things. Do you have a bathroom above the kitchen? If you do, you may have a plumbing issue either waste or supply.

Make sure the light is off and test the shower, then the sink and then the toilet. Between each one, go down stairs and see if the leak is there.

If no bathroom, check your attic space for a leaking water line.

Good Luck!

You must live on the bottom apt. in a complex--the water might be coming from the apt. above you. Might be the tub/shower drain line leaking on you when they take a shower--since you say it"s slightly warm. The above would apply to a 2 story home also.If it is a house--turn off the incoming main water supply valve --this shuts off all water. This will give you time to think your next move.Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

warm, shut the water off at the water heater and the gas or elec.
if u can get into the attic, check for leak in pipe. if bathroom above u may have a leak in that plumbing. this has happen, sheetrocker put nail in pipe and it finally rusted through. OH THIS HAPPERN TO ME ABOUT 1 IN 15000 OFF, BUT WE PUT A NAIL IN THE ELBOW OF A COPPER WATER LINE WHEN PUTTING THE SHINGLES ON. iT TOOK 6 MONTHS TO RUST THROUGH. THE PLUMBER PUT THE TURNS TO CLOSE TO THE DECKING.
