So it don't squeak? They are greased so they don't seize up from rust or friction. When they seize it makes a flat spot on the chain where it can't bend. That flat spot don't go smoothly around the round sprockets. That makes the dang bike harder to peddle. Friction caused by links that don't bend easily makes the dang bike hard to peddle. So grease your chain or get out of the way !
