Hi,

I know this is bad but i dont know where else to turn...

I have depression and am a self-mutilator. I recently cut myself really deep, pastt he fatty tissue but not any veins, and i tried to close it up by using butterfly strips to hold the wound closed together while bandaged. However, after two days i removed the bandage to let it 'breath' and noticed that one side of the incision is tucked under the wound which means the cut is not healing the way it should..the fatty tissue is sticking out and i can't push it down/in and pull the cut together over the fatty tissue. What will happen to the fatty tissue or better yet to my wrist? I do not want to see a doctor for fear that they might report me as being suicidal although I wasnt trying to kill myself. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You need to first seek medical help immediately and when they ask what happened you need to just tell them the truth, you are a self mutilator. They will have someone speak with you I am sure of that. In all honesty you need someone to help you break this cycle.

What will happen next time? Will you cut so deep you will die from your depression? Your actions are serious and you need some in depth help. I am not trying to be mean at all. I was a friend to someone who would do that and he is no longer with us.

I suffer from bi-polar depression so I do know how deep depression can be and it is not a pretty place to live. I am getting help but to get help you must be honest with your doctor and also mental health professionals as well.

I think you are scared of what you have done and how bad things have gotten. You have to admit you are out of control.

Please go get medical help tonight and just be honest with them. I will be praying for you and no I am not a religious fanatic. I love you, please love yourself.

Kevin
P.S. Please let me know how this turns out.

First off, you need to realize that life is an everyday thing. You have your ups and downs but the key is not to let the downs keep you down. Everything always works itself out in the end. Trust me. But your question is about the wound, so I'll answer it.

You cut deep when you did what you did. This won't be a two-day healing, or even a week. You have to clean the wound then apply a tight dressing, preferably some gauze. You have to keep this on for at least two weeks. You need to change the dressings regularly too. Wear long sleeves so no one sees it and assumes the worst. But the key you need to take from this is that all things heal in time and this is true in life. Just give it time and it will heal. Happy Holidays! Hope this helps!

Two choices:

Go to the ER and get stiched up, or get gangrene and lose your hand.

Simple.
