Try these techniques to help you relax at any time. About one hour before you plan to go to sleep, do some stretching exercises. Start at the feet and tighten the muscles one at a time then relax. work you way up, tighten and relax. Include the head, neck, tongue and eyes.

Proceed to taking long, deep breathing for ten minutes. If possible try it in a semi-dark, quiet place, with soft soothing music. If thoughts continue, imagine each thought funneling up to your forehead, and visualize the thought as a bubble floating up and away from your head, see it rise into the sky farther and farther away. Now repeat.

I have sleeping problems as weel, my husband is in Iraq and I worry. I have heard not to read or watch t.v. that it keeps the brain in "think" mode. If you are up thinking about stuff, you will never fall asleep. So if you have time, take time to get yourself relaxed and release all thoughts and worries. Lavender is a relaxing scent that can help you fall asleep. The key is relaxation. When all else fails seek a doctor for sleep medicine, or see a sleep therapist. They can help you pin point your sleep problem.

hi, i have a very very busy mind at bedtime and I have tried herbal and teas, it didn't work and i don't like to take a sleeping pill, it is just we have so much on our mind now and then...My Dr. gave me an Rx that is not addictive, it is called Quetiapine Fumarate, the generic name is Seroquel, you can't feel you have taken something, it just relaxes the brain activity. Nest day you feel normal, I take it about half an hr before bed.

I am exactly the same way. Tons of things running through my head keeping me awake.

Ive found the following works well:

I force it all out in favor of a pleasant daydream/fantasy [ not sexual ] I wrap myself in that daydream until sleep takes over.

Count to 10,000. You won't make it, because you will fall asleep somewhere along the line.
