4 and 6ft and also a traffic led which is about 2ft long, but only good for big dogs. please DO NOT buy a retractable leash unless you are in an open area for your dog. many dogs have been seriously harmed while on a retractable one. they can run out into the street before you can stop them and you can't pull them back as easily if they are in danger. if you are just normally walking your dog in a store, taking to the vet or walking in your neighborhood there is no reason for your dog to ahead of you anyway, they should walk beside and behind you.

Typical leashes come in 4, 5, 6 and 8 feet (though you can find them shorter and longer). The reason for the difference in lengths is almost always associated with training. The kind of reaction you are looking for out of the dog will be easily accomplishmed if using the appropriate length (and material) leash.
Also take into consideration the size of the dog. My extra-large breed dog on a 4 foot leash would be just as comfortable as your tiny toy-cup dog would be on an 8 foot leash. And on the same note, if you put your tiny dog on a 4 foot leash it would be pretty silly.
Leashes come in all different lengths. The "typical" length would depend on the dog and the reason he/she is on a leash.

Typically dog leashes are 6 feet long. This is just the regular length that you can buy in most stores.
There are other lengths that are available if you are into training of any sort or what ever.

If you are trainning a dog a good 6 ft leather leash is good. You want to stick with that length in order to be able to control your dog on walks and in public.

it ussaly depends on the dog and you if you have or are getting a small dog it is better to get a longer leash so that you are not bending over when walking. now if you get a bigger dog it depends if you want your dog trained to walk near you or if you want it to be long so the dog won't pull has much because the leash is so long
