I mean, I heard he's kind to non-celebs. I've heard and read of one story wherein there was this girl who he saw on the streets, she met an accident. Tom brought her to the hospital and even checked in on her afterwards.
Then there was this story, when he and Nicole were still together. There was a thief who stole something from his neighbor in London and he ran after it or something like that.
Then there was this video he made for this anorexic girl and he was giving her encouragement in the videotape.
Then, of course, we all know how much time he spends signing autographs for fans and even talking on the mobile phone of a fan for her friend.

He was named one of the top 10 best autograph signers or something like that, so I guess he's nice. I've never seen him beat up a Thai reporter (coughcoughBJORKcoughcough.)

I was in an airport waiting area where he was back in the early 90s. I was with my daughter, and she was chatting to people and smiling at everyone. (I myself think it's rude to just let your kid run wild and bother other people). She was within arm's reach of me, and she was not being loud......just, "Hi, I'm Crissy..." .....that sort of smalltalk.
I didn't realize it was Tom Cruise until one of his security staff members (or someone posing as his security) asked me if I could keep my daughter seated so she wouldn't draw attention to Tom.
It was like this: I was seated and had the seat next to me for my daughter and her little bag. There was a "security" guy in the next seat and Tom Cruise in the seat next to that guy.
Like I said, my daughter was not walking around; she was either sitting in her seat or standing in front of me. Tom Cruise cut a few looks my way......and then that security guy told me to get my daughter to be still.
I now think Tom Cruise is a jerk and a phony. That's just my opinion.
