Tylenol if perfectly fine for you to take while pregnant, i took it often during my pregnancy and my son is perfectly healthy. I do understand though that some people do not like to take any type of medication while they are pregnant.

I don't know how you feel about drinking caffeine while you are pregnant but caffeine opens up the blood vessels and releases the tension in your head that is causing the tension. Although if you do decide to drink caffeine, make sure that you don't drink too much because too much caffeine for anyone, especially a pregnant women, is not good for you.

If you are against drinking caffeine then you could try taking a warm shower or bath. Taking a warm shower/bath can also release the tension that is causing the headache. Also just try to relax, that always helps too.

Good luck figuring something out and congrats.

Lavender pillows, cold compress or warm compress, darkened room, counterpressure.

Just so you know, I too had bad headaches during pregnancy, and they have persisted while I'm breastfeeding. They are probably hormonal in nature, so unfortunately there's not a good way to reduce them.

There are a couple of teas out there made by Yogi teas, Mother-to-be and Nursing Mother I think are the names, that help me if I am sure to drink the recommended 4-5 cups a day. They just contain things like peppermint, anise, fennel - food herbs. However, I must say that I'm not sure whether it's the herbs or the extra hydration that's helping. The headaches still occur, they just seem to be shorter and less intense on days when I'm careful about drinking my tea.

Good luck, and congratulations!

The only suggestion I can give you is rest.. Tylenol is ok though, I do remember taking it a few times for a headache while pregnant. I never liked taking anything either but it really is ok! I also stayed away from caffine but when I had a headache or was nauseus I drank a small coke and it made me feel better.

i suffered from horrible migraines while i was pregnant the only thing that helped even a little was to take a hot bath (not to hot) and lie down for a while if that wasn't possible then i took a childrens tylenol (very low dosage) that really helped and also wasn't harmfull to the baby

Tylenol (taken as directed) will not hurt the baby, but if you are completely against that....

Try putting a warm washcloth on your neck, lay down in a dark room, turn off all distractions and try to relax. Headaches are going to be an everyday thing unfortunately, and when the baby comes they may get worse because of the noise!

Peppermint oil (bath and body has as well as a whole foods store) rubbed on your temples helps. Also, if you visit the health food store there is usually a vitamin section, in this area there is a person familiar with homeopathic medicine. At mine there is an area that described ailments and has dispensers with all natural remedies.

When nothing cured my headaches they always did!

As much as possible, avoid processed foods, sugars, alcohol and caffeine products. Eat more whole grains, plenty of fresh fish and lots of colorful fruits and vegetables.
Supplementing your diet with omega-3 salmon oil rich in EPA and DHA is another excellent headache relief strategy. Omega-3 fish oils contain natural anti-inflammatory properties, balance hormonal output and have a very beneficial effect on migraines and headaches.
You can check with your local health food store.

*ALARM* How is your blood pressure? Headache is not a good sign late in pregnancy! You should feel fit and energetic...if not....Why not? Get lots of rest....see your doctor....do not take anything if you can help it...all pain relievers will delay delivery, so don't do that if you can avoid it.

I had good results with Black Cohash...it is relaxing and helps bring dilation.
