I have a 1997 Ford F-150 with power door locks that only lock but do NOT unlock. What's the cause and how do I fix it?

If I were to guess. I would say it's the power door lock switch. Not a big deal at all.

If they don't unlock, no matter which switch you press, and neither side unlocks at all, it's most likely a relay. Check your owner's manual, and find the proper relay. They're only about $8. Your lock relays will be in the fuse compartment inside the car, not the ones under the hood. I would try that, since it's cheap and doesn't require taking the doors apart.

If one switch works, but the other doesn't, that's simple, you need a new switch. If one door unlocks, but the other doesn't, you'll need to take the door panel off and check the wires to the locking mechanism to ensure that they are connected and not cut. If that's fine, then you may need to replace the mechanism.

I don't think both mechanisms would have gone bad at the same time, and the same goes for the switches. But it's possible. I would still start with the relay, being that it's cheap and easy.

OK it can be one of two things
first thing is the switch could be bad or it could be a loose power door lock actuator connection
what you will have to do to fix this problem pull the door panel off
and check the connections on the switch if all the connections are solid on the switch Then you need to remove the plastic insulator lining and with the window up and with a flashlight look in at the actuator you will be able to tell what actuator is by seeing the door lock connector rods attached to it. while looking at the actuator push the switch to operate your locks first lock and watch the actuator move then unlock if it does not move in the opposite position then you know your actuator needs to be replaced

I put in a used tranny in my f150 once you're commencing off the transmission does not shift intocontinual. once you get as much as approximately forty-forty 5 mph the engine is at 3000 rpm it as in case you shift it in to impartial the transmission is no longer in kit yet you and push the overdrive over journey and it engages the transmission returned
