They do it for the thrill of accomplishment - seeing a majestic mountain and wondering how it would feel to climb to the top and later have bragging rights.
Other thrill-seekers are skydivers, bungee jumpers, cliff divers etc. If these adventurers want to do these things then they shouldn't be too limited. Steve Irwin loved his work. Remember, Columbus took a risk to find America. The astronauts took risks to explore outer space. Adventurers are needed. Yes the other Mt Hood climbers are gone - the search has changed to "recovery" mode.

i have a question open on this right now actually. i just think is so stupid to even allow people to climb that mountain, especially at this time of year. im just wondering why there arent some sort of laws or restrictions on climbing the mountain. it just puts lives of others (rescuers) in danger. they are most likely dead, and if there were some sort of law that forced them to wear the locator devices that anyone can rent for $5, they would have been found almost imediately! Go ahead, climb an extremely dificult snow covered mountain in december...i think there is some bad weather on the way, but oh well, go ahead its too beautiful not to! But dont get caught doing 35 in 25 without a seatbelt on and expired tags!!!

i stay in sandy oregon, its on the backside of MT hood. yeah its an exceedingly poor what befell to the climbers. sure MT hood has snow all 365 days around. in basic terms no longer as plenty interior the summertime time. the snow will initiate melting interior the spring. they'd make a action picture approximately people getting misplaced interior the snow. possibly no longer approximately those climbers tho.

They called off the search, so their chances aren't too good.
