If you are near a wall, run towards it and jump a little then jump off the wall with one foot or both. This helps build "spur of the moment" type of jumps which are in basketball rather than vertical leaps where you squat down and stuff. Try running at the wall and jumping then kicking yourself up/off the wall. It helps the same muscles. Repeat this till your sore.

The ancient shao lin temple monks put weights on their ankles when they go jogging so that their muscles are used to pulling more weight than their body. So when the weights are removed, it is like jumping in the swimming pool. Try it for a month and see if you can jump higher. Also use your toes to spring from. land on your toes not the whole foot. gradually roll from toe to the rest of the foot. a special type of running shoes can help. talk to your neighborhood footlocker or shoe store. watch the circus performers. they are the best at doing high jumps. maybe jumping on the trampoline helps. do some research.

Power exercises require explosive, quick moves like those need for plyometrics and power cleans. Plyometrics are explosive bounding, hopping and jumping drills. They blend strength and speed. Finally, practicing maximum vertical jump will increase vertical jump.
