You can take regular kids vitamins, but it would be good is you can find some kind of prenatal vitamin that works for you. It took me a while before I found the perfect vitamin for me that didn't make me sick. You just have to experiment a little bit. Congrats on the baby and good luck.

You need not to take those women vitamins as a substitute for prenatal vitamins. Folic acid is the most important prenatal vitamin. If you face no problem in your appetite and eating, that is very fine. Folic acid need can be sufficed by eating leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, beans, whole grains and fortified cereals.Drink milk and have dairies for calcium and have intake of iron rich foods. Food is the best source for all the prenatal vitamins and they are natural. Given a consideration that pregnancy increases the body demand for the nutrients plus the factors of pregnancy that changes in the mood of eating might be insufficient, taking additional supplement might be of importance. A folic and iron containing supplement would be sufficient. Try to take them with foods. Check this out for more input:

My friends and I also couldn't take the prenatal vitamin. Several different doctors told us to take 2 Flintstone vitamins as they have the same level of vitamins as most prenatal vitamins. And they were easier to stomach. 2 healthy kids over here!

Yes you can take your regular vitamins provided that the Vitamin A is in the form of beta-carotene or doesn't exceed 1,000 IU.
You may wish to take extra iron in the form of a natural suppliment such as floradix. However only 1% of pregnant women suffer from anemia and too much iron is known to be toxic. However it is only recently they have begun to look into how much is too much for pregnant women. Use you best judgement.
Calcium is also important during pregnancy. Calcium Carbonate is also a natural antacid which you may need. This is the active ingredient in TUMs. However the mint flavoured chewables from the drugstore are cheaper and generally have fewer ingredients.
Congrats!

NO!! You should only be taking your prenatal vitamins. They should give you the necessary vitamin intake for you and your baby. You should never take any other medications, unless prescribed by your doctor,AFTER, you got pregnant. The womens vitamins you took, are for women, not for your baby. They may be to powerful for the fetus

My prenatals make me sick as well, so my doc told me to take 2 Flintstones vitamins a day. So that's what I do, and that's what I did when I was pregnant with my son as well. Hope that helps. Good Luck!

Your doctor might be able to prescribe Premesis for you. It's a prescription prenatal with all the essentials, plus some B vitamins that are good for combating nausea, and withOUT some of the non-essential vitamins that might be contributing to your nausea.
It worked for me. Twice.

Try taking your prenatal vitamins with food and see if that helps.

Have you tried eating before you take them? Becuase I found that if I take them first thing in the morning before I eat, I get sick. Or maybe try them with a glass of milk.
Hmm...I think that you should talk to your OB and ask him/her, even if its just over the phone. Better be safe than sorry. Pre-natals would probably be better than a womans vitamin becuase it has vitamins to fit the baby extra needs.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
