What Would You Have Done?

Question

I was walking through the mall the other day and as I walked by an ATM in the food court I heard it beeping. Someone left their ATM card in the machine, and it was awaiting the next transaction.

Of course, I ejected the card, waited around for a few minutes to see if someone returned to claim it, then took the card to the "Guest Services" at the mall and gave it to a rep.

How many of you out there would have punched up a withdrawl and given themselves some holiday cash?

I'm too paranoid. ATM's have cameras, and with my luck I'd end up on MSNBC, wide screen, get arrested, charged, jailed, tried and imprisoned.

I once walked out of the supermarket with a baking sheet that I forgot to pay for. It was buried underneath my other groceries...

I got to my car before I realized the mistake and commented to a the man retrieving carts that it was odd a store alram didn't sound or something because I couldn't recall paying for it. he said I must've paid for it otherwise the alarm would've indeed gone off.

Knowing he was merely one apathetic soul, I marched back to customer service, handed the baking sheet back and explained the situation. The lady at the desk said, "Oh, thanks" as if she were highly surprised. She didn't expect someone would do the right thing either.

Pity.

so many people in the world only think of themselves and would have taken advantage of the situation yet if it were their card, heads would roll.keep doing the right thing.
