My family had a reuinion at the shore this summer. My mom and I picked up sea shells to make Christmas ornaments for everyone with the date and name of the shore. I thought Id use a gold pen to right the stuff onto the shell. Does anyone have any better ideas or something to jazz it up a little?

Spray glitter over the entire thing, fancy ribbon and lace to hand it from the tree.

If you have enough scallop or clam shells, use them as the body or "skirt" of an angel. Glue a wooden bead to the hinge part of the shell and use a small round cloth doily ( you can get crocheted ones at any craft store ) folded in half and gathered at the center as wings...glue them in back near the top of the shell. A gold, glittery piece of pipe cleaner for a halo and a sprig of tiny faux holly berries where her hands would be. Use a gold leaf pen to add some gilding to the edges of the shell. Use a black Sharpie marker to make two dots on the bead head for eyes.

You could drill tiny holes in them so you could run some strands or fringes of glass beads and/or smaller shells from them. These days you can buy etched glass beads that are a nice soft matte like beach glass that would be very pretty. You could also pull apart old beaded necklaces or jewelry and use the elements.

This is a really creative idea you have, I'm going to tuck it away in my brain for future use!
