I gave my baby his bottle before going to bed and he threw up. I was a little nervous because he threw up so much! He then fell asleep. Now Im even more worried because he fell asleep on an empty stomach. Should I worry??

all babies throw up- feed him as you normally do, they "eat" often, just check on him reg and make sure he is breathing but trust me, they throw up. There was probably air in the bottle, do you know what type of nipples youre using on the bottle? Are you using the type of bottles that let less air into them? He may have consumed too much at one feeding. I wouldnt be too worried.

My son threw up all the time. I think it was because he was such a pig. He was a chunky baby (and very nearly underweight now even though he eats all the time)

If he's sleeping and seems comfortable. Don't worry about it. It's never a good idea to put something right back in after they've done it. It's better to wait and give their tummies a chance to settle anyway.

As far as it being a lot. A few tablespoons can seem like alot when spread out on the floor, but in terms of total volume, perception of it can be deceiving. It always seemed like alot running down the back of my shirt. : )

Think about it... you gave him a bottle and then he laid down.. it is not uncommon for some of it to come back up occasionally. My son is a 'spitter upper' and he is 6 1/2 months old.. he is starting to grow out of it some but somedays he spits up A LOT! Babies do that and most of the time it looks like a lot more than it really is.

Throw up, or alot of spit up! Mine is 12 weeks old and that happens all the time. He sleeps 9 hours through out the night with no problem. I am probably 'jinx'ing myself by saying that out loud, because trust me I feel like my sleep luck is going to run out. Just make sure you put him on his back to sleep and check on him That will make you feel better. Also, put the monitor right by his head so you can hear him breathe. That will rest your head. If you think he really threw up,, you should take his temperature and watch him for the next day or so to make sure he is acting normally.

Babies do vomit. Some alot, some alittle.

Their digestive systems are developing and they can be more reactive than a grown up's digestive system.

If he fell asleep he was contented and he'll be fine. He may wake up earlier than usual and want to eat, or he may stay on his schedule.

If he vomits again, you may want to check with your pediatrician. He might suggest a different kind or brand of formula. Or check in with you to determine if anything is really wrong.

best,

cez

My four year old daughter still barfs like Linda Blair in the Exorcist. Could be that your son ate too much, had a huge bubble in his belly or it just didn't agree with him at that time. If he acted fine otherwise, I'd not worry about it unless it becomes a chronic problem. All babies barf for no reason.

It's called spitting up.
They spit up a lot less fluid than it would seem.
I would not worry about it unless he keeps doing it with EVERY feeding and seems unwell otherwise (fever, pale, cries nonstop).
He may be lactose intolerant or something else in that case...
Its always good advice to call the pediatrician if you're worried.

No.

Very, very normal.

Only worry if it starts happening every day.
