I've only read one, but I loved it: Kafka on the Shore. Wow -- what a book. Fascinating characters, surreal plot, profound insights... what more could you ask? Well, how about Colonel Sanders as a pimp/mentor?

And I love the humourous, realistic way Murakami deals with sex.

It's just a great book. I'll have to look for the two you mention.

I have read them all - the best is definitely "Kafka on the Shore" it is as if you are reading a dream - it is long and so you don't finish it quickly so you can savor it and it is very satisfying. My second favorite is "The Wind-up Bird Chronicle" Also a great book but I didn't feel as satisfied at the end.
