When my daughter was small, I would always try to think of special things to put in her stocking. Knowing her passion for reading, I would always include small pocket-size books, paper dolls, puzzles, hand-held games (Gameboy), candy, pencils, pens, note cards, candles, little notes that would direct her to other places to find larger gifts that did not fit in stockings, magnets, and anything that I could think of that would be 'extra' for her. Sometimes, I would make "free chore passes" that would free her up from washing dishes, or doing other chores. She would get a great kick out of me or her father doing the dishes, or cleaning the bathroom in her stead. We would also include video tapes, music tapes, batteries, ribbons, teddy bears or in her case - she loves Hanna Barbera cartoon characters, so I'd include anything I could find that would represent those characters...coloring books, cards, etc.

Kids is what Christmas is all about. Put things in their stockings that they would not expect. Things they like and don't always get during the year. I found this to be more exciting to them than the gifts..

I usually get, a magazine, xmas themed candy, lottery tickets, more candy, maybe a toy of some sort. The other year is was a visrtual pet type thing.
Nutty/super putty is good. Dollar stores are great for stocking stuffers.

Batteries if they have a toy that requires them.
Tooth brushes
New gloves, Hang over the stocking
Kinder surprises, even my 20 yr old likes them
Hair brushes
Hair product for the girls (teen)
Bubble bath
Card games
Pick up sticks
Any thing that will distract them while I get our breakfast tray ready so we can eat while we unwrap presents.

Maybe. I buy the candy at the stores marked down the day after Halloween. Doesn't "look" Halloweenish.

Every year I get the same thing. A hot wheel, silly string, some candy, a travel game of some sort, and a gift card.

My kid's stockings aren't just for candy. How about bubble bath, cards, little toys, colors, coloring books, slinkys? My kids are grown now, but I still fill their stockings. I now put perfumes, chapsticks, cute notepads, special pens, earrings, hairdo's, but I still find room for bubblebath. You are never to old for bubblebath!
Walmart has some nice little stocking stuffers..coloring crayons for the tub, different colored foam soaps, jacks, marbles, and plastic farm animals. I got my son-in-law some of the different colored foam soap and the coloring crayons...thought it would be good for a laugh Christmas morning.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
God bless us all...................

Recipe for a stuffed stocking:
a nice orange or clementine
roll of scotch tape
glue or glue stick
age-appropriate scissors
crayons, pencil crayons and sharpener, or markers
fun pencils or a pen with their name on it
stickers
their initial in chocolate, or a Terry's chocolate orange
maybe some Hotwheels or Matchbox cars . . .
maybe a set of jacks or marbles or a skipping rope or rubber ball or puck or road hockey ball . . .
maybe a colouring or activity book, or memo pad or diary, or small pad of construction paper or scrapbooking supplies . . .
other craft supplies relevant to the child
film, for older kids who have non-digital cameras
a fun or funky new toothbrush
a special coin or keepsake
a few wrapped candies, or some jujubes and jellybeans etc. in a sandwich baggie, and/or a pack of gum
batteries
an inexpensive flashlight (most young children LOVE this)
I can think of a lot more possibilities, but these have been the most common ones in our family.
