I'm only asking cuz I keep hearing on the news what some people are doing with them and stealing the money well, maybe not all just some so it scares me though :(.

Gift Cards are a good christmas presents for everyone because you know what shop they are buying it from and you know they wont spend the money on anything useless. Some good sites are :

For all of those all you have to do is enter your email address or zip code and reply back to them and you will receive a gift card from those stores free of charge, I got my old navy one from there and it was totally worth it.

of course! It's perfectly safe. The news is only half right. Yes people do call and steal the pin numbers. But then the phone number to call is the same. So when you buy a gift card
1. Get it from the back instead of the front. there are less chances it's tampered with.
2. Make sure the pin isn't scratched off already.
However, getting gift cards are the best thing because you might not go to that store and you don't know if that person giving it already used it, so check the pin!

And it's ALL true. Did you know that retail stores profit 54 million a year in lost, forgotten gift cards? Good Morning America had it on their show yesterday.
People are looking at the card number in back off of the kiosks and calling in to see what the amount is, then using it.
There is a huge scam going on right now with gift cards.

It's a great idea, just make sure that the pin number has not been scratched off and revealed. If you are still scared to buy one, you can get them at the checkout counter (as opposed to the cards placed around the store). There's usually someone at the counter, so those cards would be more secure against fraud.
