I am currently studying for my degree in Political Science and will then get my Masters. I have a second career that I will be transitioning out of eventually.

The best way to get a job teaching at the college level is to get a PhD and then publish research in the top academic journals.

They don't care much about teaching ability.

Finish your Masters degree and start teaching at a community college.......then work on your PhD and apply to teach. The need to publish as a student is not necessarily true although it helps. The key is paper presentations! as well as being sure to teach as a graduate student. Universities usually require the PhD. You may want to go to a national college too!

You'll most likely need a Ph.D. to be a college prof. In the sciences, you need at least one post-doc position before applying for a faculty job - there may be something similar in that field. Try asking your college prof for more info.
