You could make a certificate booklet. It could contain up to 12 certificates, one for each month of the new year or for the numbers of months you decided was sufficient.
On the certificate you would state what it is to be used for or you can leave it up to them. You can create them using a computer, by hand or a combination of both. Decorate them in a manner that would bring a smile to their eyes.
Examples might be: 1-Wash Dad or mom's car, 2-Vacuum the house each week for a specific month, 3-Make them breakfast and serve it to them in bed, etc.
Use your knowledge of what your parents like and get creative.
Have fun!

get felt (any color), beads (preferably small @ Wal mart), glue (wet), and glitter. this only works for girls.......take the felt and cut it into a heart, take a pen and write the first initial on the felt, put glue on the different parts (like if it is an M, then seperate it into these parts: | \ / | ) and put the beads on the glue. once u r done, put the glitter on the glue, just kind of sprinkling it aroud. the glitter will stay on the fely, so be sure to put it EXACTLY where u want it.
gimme an E, gimme an A, gimme an S, gimme a Y. wut does that spell? EASY!!

make a scrapbook with pictures of you to give to your parents. its something they will cherish for years to come! get some pretty paper, cool stickers, and a scrapbook. all you do, is glue a picture on each page, add some stickers, write something on the page if you wish, then slide the page into the page of the scrapbook. you can get everything you need at walmart for around or under 25 bucks. you'll have fun too!

ok..i am a mom of 4 kids..i will tell you what we like and don't like...sorry kids!!! NO stuffed animals...or home made stuff animals...NO dollar store stuff...or perfume or bath stuff!!!!! you are older so the "coupon book" is really not so cute any more...when you were under 9 years it was cute! if you are into art...picture frame with your art is cool.....if you are not into art... i would probably pass on that idea. same with Photography...if you like to take pictures take some artsy type picture of something i would like or of something i charish and blow it up to a 8x10 in a black and white...that will cost you a few bucks at walmart. and the cost of a frame makes a neat gift. no prepackaged food either. unless it was something we could make together...like us baking cookies for the neighbors. a CLEAN room without asking...that is a GREAT gift. homemade card...with your own poem...tears for sure...I would love it!!! Hobby lobby has some neat stepping stone kits....with rocks and stuff...that would be soooo personal. i would like that too. you are older...so anything with pom poms, pipe cleaners and glitter...not so cute! no gift cards either. two tickets to the movies for you and ME...LOVE IT! you could get two sets...date with dad and a date with mom!!! but you have to actually go with them!!! hip clothes....probably not a great choice either. if your mom or dad collects things...you could add to that collection. most of the time if a mom or dad is into a certain thing...like make up, tools, fishing or scrapbooking...we like to get our own stuff. so i wouldn't buy that either. depending on where you live...a real tree for the yard is nice...you can plant it together and watch it grow....i would charish that...a gift that lasts. if you have siblings...take them out to play and give mom some free time..help them clean their room...that will touch their heart too. show them that you love them...that is all we really want!!!

I bought this super cute pom pom animal set. You can make all these animals that are so adorable! The set is 20 dollars and can be found at Borders or Barnes and nobles. I made pets for my parents and they LOVE them!

How about getting a bunch of 3x5 cards and write things on them like "Good for one vacuuming of house" or "One night of dishes." This will mean more to them than any gift you can buy.

One of the best most thoughtful gifts I got from my son was a coupon book. I could redeem for chores. He'd run errands, mow the lawn, cook dinner, ect. I used them all.
