Ok, assuming this is not some kind of silly riddl you want us to guess the answer to, I am going to say it is one of the man made radioactive elements like Californium. Cf is so incredibly unstable (short half life) that even if they tried to make it in quantity, it breaks down into smaller atoms very quickly. After a few hours or days, there is an undetectably small amount left. And, considering that to make it requires atom smashers and other multimillion dollar equipment, and heavy radioactive isotopes to hit with the particles to bu8ild up the Cf atoms, I am guessing that this is the most expensive element in the world.

Lutetium is widely regarded by element collectors as one of the hardest rare earth elements to collect. Of course you can order some for a crazy price from a chemical company, but it's much harder to get a decent quantity at a reasonable price. This is probably largely related to the fact that no one has much use for it, so there isn't much around outside of specialty chemical suppliers. Unlike most rare earths, it's also actually quite rare.

The price for Lutetium (III) oxide is about 110.00 U.S Dollars for one Gram.

Wife-andium. This element not only costs a min of 100,000 per pound it actually is sentient and uses this to become even more expensive.

This element usually starts off at 120 lbs/mol and grows to 250 lbs /mol. In that time it sucks up an incredible 30,000 / mol minimum of revenue.

By the time the problem is evident you need to hire a lawyer repugnium to have this parasite surgically removed.

It'd be one of those radioactive ones where they only make like 1 atom once in a great while in a nuclear collider. (Like Meitnerium, for instance). By the gram, they'd cost billions of billions of billions of dollars.
