I think Tara Conner would have done a lot better if she was stripped of her crown. Vanessa Williams became famous/infamous because of the Penthouse shots, being the first black Miss America and being stripped of her crown. It put her on the map and suddenly everyone wanted to photograph her or hire her. Now, think about this name: Suzette Charles. Who is she? She is the one who was given the Miss America crown after Vanessa Williams resigned. Ever heard from her again since then? I don't think so. If Tara had lost her crown every magazine would have been bidding to feature her in a photo spread. She would have gotten book deals, movie offers, etc.

On Thursday, pageant boss Donald Trump publicly denied that Conner was getting the boot.
But a source told TMZ that Nash, who is Miss California, was contacted with the news by a high-ranking pageant official and told she will take the title once Trump finally makes the official announcement in the coming week.

Tara was able to keep the crown because Donald Trump decided to give her another chance and Tara made a public announcement that she wasn't drinking underage.

Vanessa lost her crown as Miss America because Miss America pageant has always been very strict, and technically she resigned...
Miss USA isn't as "serious" a pageant. it's almost as though they are different worlds! Though she was "just having fun" it's illegal fun...not to mention Miss Teen USA is involved as well...
It may have been about race in the 1984 when Williams lost her crown, but I would hope that had this been a woman who wasn't white, she too would have been given a second chance. Though I don't think Tara deserved one...

Miss America = Vanessa
Miss USA = Tara.
These are totally different contests, with much different rules, and very different expectations. And, we're 20+ years removed -- do you want to live under 1984 moral codes?
As I recall, Vanessa got her chances at fame anyway, and is arguably the best-known Miss America. Will we remember Tara in 20 years?

Did you see Vanessa Williams' pictures???? Not Miss U.S.A. material. But ,then again ; I think the whole Miss U.S.A. thing is so stupid. Not something I would want my daughter to be a part of. Anyway, She should be booted out for her inappropriate ways.

donald trump let her keep it because he has a new show in the works right now called second chances. so thats why he gave her a second chance because of his upcoming show. he didn't want to show people that he wouldn't give her one when he will be doing a show giving them to other people.
