and read the Fiske Guide to Colleges (latest edition)

... for more on what Stanford requires. And you can always contact the Admissions Department for more specifics.

It's not clear to me why a Stanford student would be the person to help you out on this. After all, they weren't on the admissions committee making admissions choices.

Regarding the previous comment, I doubt Stanford is any more selective than Harvard, Princeton or Yale. But yes, it's one of the most selective schools.

Frankly, having great grades, having gone to a great school and having great SAT scores isn't going to guarantee admission to these schools in and of itself. It takes something extra. But a Stanford student won't be the one to tell you what that is. How would he or she know?

Stanford is probably the most selective university in the country. If you are in the top 5% of your class, live in a top school district and have 1400s on your math+verbal SAT, then you have a good chance.
