To my left is my beautiful family. (They completed my legal adoption on Monday, and my last name was legally changed to theirs yesterday.)
My mom is knitting a blanket for me. It's baby pink, my favorite color. My dad is playing my favorite song, "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan, on his guitar. My big brother and my big brother-in-law, both twenty-one years old, are playing a card game called Speed. (Looks like my brother Joseph is winning.) My sister, who is almost twenty-one, is also knitting. It's a blanket for my niece/nephew who is due in May. My sister-in-law, who is just barely twenty years old, is reading her scriptures. My dog, Pepper, is sleeping. Bunny, our orange tabby kitten, is chasing his tail like the dumb-but-adorable little cat he is. The puppies, Maggie the golden child and Luka the troublemaker, are decimating yet another roll of toliet paper. Emmie, my sister's old Jack Russell, is curled up on her master's lap, trying to get her attention by intentionally sticking her face between Lindsay and her knitting needles. I think she needs the restroom.
And then there is me, sitting here on my computer, watching my new family with loving eyes.
