Was the part of the marine finding the two men true, or was it made up. I know the tapping really happened, but I want to know about the marine finding them.

yes, it was true. at the time the movie was made he was anonymous, but he showed up when the movie came out.

Yes, it was, but it's an interesting story. The actual Marine that saved them actually wanted nothing to do with 9/11 after the rescue. However, when the movie was released and producers were seeking him out, he came forward.
Incidentally, he has black skin in real life.

I saw the movie and know the facts, let's put it this way, 40percent is true, 60percent is false. The part where they got trapped was true, and that's kind of all that's it, oh and that they had all those surgeries at the end, yeah, that was true.. and their famillies, and being found. All was true except for the marine that shot himself getting stuck by a boulder, and that the marine guy who saved them did that.
