I'm surprised from the answers to my last question about my daughter dating a 23 year old so I want to why people are saying this. I completely don't see the problem because girls like older guys. Plus, older guys are usually more mature.

No, not necessarily. I know of a 16-year-old kid keeping up with guys much older than that. In fact, a few of them are just about old enough to be her grandfathers!

But really, it does depend on the two. In the case of my friend, she had many interests that are unusual for someone her age, nor does she sound like a 16-year-old. No, I don't think 16 and 23 is extreme. Just keep an eye on them.

it's not the fact that he is 7 years older but the fact that there is a huge difference between a 16 and 23 year person. I have dated someone 13 years older than me but i am 26, not 16

As long as they enjoy each others company and he is willing to wait till she is out of school to get married I do not see anything wrong with it.
You are right about one thing , at 23 a young man is much more mature and likely to be faithful than a 16 yr. old boy. But at 16 a girl still has some maturing to do and even though girls mature quicker she is still only 16. I answered your last question too so you know the rest of my feelings about these two. and again I say
Good Luck in your decision.

Not at 16. If you said 20, maybe. At 16 we're still very very much naive and innocent. I would like to preserve this in my daughter than to have her act or behave older than she is just so she could go out with a 23 year old who's already been around the block once or twice.

theres too much of an age difference. what do they have in common to talk about? the guy should want someone on his own age level. if shes mature then it could work out. but most 16 year old girls are not. getting married is a huge decision. shes only 16 she has a lot of her life to live yet. but really it depends on the two people.

Umm... A 16 year old is hardly a woman. And dating a 23 year old is a pretty big leap. That's almost a decade between them. So I doubt very seriously they are on the same mental wavelength. Then again, it's up to you and your daughter, so my say really doesn't matter. Or it really shouldn't, because I don't think people should take someone's advice when they don't know them, such as through the internet. But I do suggest you watch the situation carefully.

No I don't think it's wrong, and where I live, 16 is the age of consent so would be totally legal.

When I was 23, I went out with a 16 year old guy, which I think most people would say is weirder than the younger girl-older guy scenario.

I hope you're kidding....

Your 16 year old is still a child! I can't believe you're ok with it. Depending on your state law, the 23 year old could end up in jail!

If this is a serious question, perhaps you should look into some parenting classes.

Yes, it is wrong because a 23 yr old man only wants sex from a 16 yr old girl. He is not interested in a relationship or getting married or her future. Your 16 yr old should be focused on school, not a 23 yr old pervert!!

i guess if thats what they really really want to do then there is nothing more to say. Personally, i wouldnt because ok you could like them but the age gap is definatley going to stir up conversation. The man could be sent to prison, and i mean think about it - if you were a 23 year old, how wierd would you have to be to go around dating a 16 year old schoolgirl?? its like her dating a 9 year old.
