Since we do not have a mall where we live and very rarely go to a town with one I do not see this.
However we live in a very small town, there is a bigger town near us of five thousand. Still no mall but there are children that go without eating, go without other basic things. We do help with what we can. This is the human thing to do.
Not only at this time of the year should one think of these kinds of things but all year around.
My child goes to the church where he is excepted, disabilities and all. This church gives free meals every Thursday night. Being my son goes there I do keep in touch with the preacher to make sure my son is OK there. If we had the money I would donate to this church in a heart beat. What they are doing is wonderful! My son is so proud that he can go to this church without me hanging over him and he is excepted and no one is going to beat him up or be mean to him. They except him for being him...
Most people do not see the child you are talking about. They walk past and do not give the child a second look. You are one of the lucky ones and can see...

First of all, why would a very poor looking child hang out in the mall!???
some parents must have neglected that child.

No. Because I never see poor people in the mall. If there was a poor child there, usually a HE, is there to steal.

I would stay away from childrenin malls as there usually is a parent somewhere and they get very angry when people start talking to their children for no reason. Leave the kid alone. Say "hi" and keep walking . There are social service agencies for these type of kids that help them and their families if they apply for help.

No, that is the gut reaction, the best thing is to help them help themselves. Handouts make the poor still poor but an education gives them hope.

I'd like to be able to help everybody. Especially little children. I guess I'm one of those bleeding heart people.
