In America, there is a growing fear of a new Chinese superpower. Some people even fear of a Chinese invasion.

My question is this: in China, when they hear news of President Bush wanting to expand the US military and tales of US exploits abroad, do Chinese citizens, politicians, and analysts fear the US like we do them?

They do view us as a threat, but not in the sense of threatening nuclear war. China has many investments in the US. We do a lot of trade with them. So, if there was a war between us, both sides would lose, no matter what the outcome.

China's primary concern appears to be that they increase the amount of respect they receive in the world, obtain favorable trade agreements, and generally improve the quality of life for all of their citizens.

Well you have to look at their communist past...
In the cultural revolution during the rule of Mao Zedong, he made China communist to catch up with the United Staes within, I think it was 15 years. They wanted to be sort of like the Americans in a way, but not. During that time, the would call the Americans, "AMERICAN BARBARIANS". But look at them now. They are a highly developed country, with still, their historic and religious roots. But if you want to talk about a whole other story, the USA takes that INDIA, is a threat. I think it was by 2024, India is said to be the World's Largest Superpower. I think that is truly amazing. I can't wait! But then you've got me and my Russians coming up as well. So the USA really has to watch out for these top 3:
India
China
Russia

I hope this helps in any way possible!

Okay... lean back, and don't drink any more of that red Demo koolaide....

Second, would you and the rest of the current crop of anti-war activists kindly do a teach-in, and LEARN SOME FRICKIN HISTORY??

The Chi Coms have "feared" the USA since the Korean war (which, by the way, is still going on after 50+ years). Chairman Mao "feared" the USA during the VietNam war.

Hell, Chinese "fear" of the USA even goes back to a time when the country of China (as we know it today) didn't even exist!

The average Chinese doesn't understand why any American is afraid of them -- they view themselves as very much behind the USA in their economy and military.

No. The Chinese could easily walk in and whip the USA! But they won't! Real wars are fought with money and ownership of lands nowadays! The Chinese will buy up most of the lands and businesses then begin mass immigration to the country then eventually run for office etc. They will take over that way I think!

1st China has no way to get the troops that it would need to invade the US to the US mainland and if they did the US military would blow them out of the Pacific.

And yes China certainly gets nervous when Bush talks about expanding the US military because there are only a few thousand terrorists in the world and you don't need 100,000 more troops to get them. Which means that the expansion could be used to attack China some day.

I wouldn't go that far, but let's just say that China would love nothing more than to invade Taiwan. The only thing keeping them from doing so is the War President saying that the US would back Taiwan.

China does not borow money fom the US. It is the US that borrows money from China to run the government.

The US will not directly confront China. America is building up its surrogate in India.

Doesn't everybody think of the US as a threat? I mean there are some Americans who think that their own government is a threat to America. No offense...I have no particular beef with you all.

All depends on how you look at it. If we withdraw our companies from there they could nearly go bankrupt. But at the same time the US would lose nearly all of it's imported goods....due to clinton being a douche and sending EVERYTHING overseas.
