Spotting is just a little blood and it usually stops. Or you can spot for days, it is just extremely light bleeding, just needing to where a panty liner. But your period should be somewhat heavy and needing to change a pad often.
There is a difference. Your period is when your lining in your uterus sheds completely. You can spot during ovulation, implation of a fertilized egg, after sex, after a pap smear, or you could have an interim period which is when your lining builds up and then sheds just a little. There are probably more reasons than this to spot but this is just to name a few...
And yes, brown or pink blood is normal at the beginning and end of each period. That is usually how mine starts and stops.

Some people have spotting at the beginning or end of there period, in the middle they get a heavier flow. However every woman is different and some woman only spot. Monitor your cycle for a few months and eventually you'll know exactly what to expect. And a pink or brown discharge at the end of your cycle can be completely normal as well.

Yes the brown or pink is normal. Brown is just older blood. Not to be gross or anything. Spotting would be like a day thing - a short period would be 2-3 days.

Your period should be moderate bleeding a little but enough flowing and if its not flowing its just spotting like a little bleeding its called spotting. And the pink and brown discharge at the end of your pregnancy is just old blood trying to get out and your uterus cleaning the rest out.

Spotting is self-explanatory meaning you see spots in between here and there. As for period, its a flow of blood thus it difers from spotting. Color of the discharge doesn't matter. Pink is the blood just flowed out and brown means it flowed out for some time already. Nothing to worry about.

Brown or pink at the end of your period is normal.
Spotting usually doesn't last as long as your period and it is "spotty" - meaning, it comes and goes. Your period is usually constant for 3-7 days, on average. And although the flow may vary during your period, it is constant and not "spotty" like spotting is.

It's hard to answer because every woman's cycle is different..the flow--heavy or light, the length, when it happens--what time of the month. I'd consult your doctor, they can probably help you better and direct you in what to read to better inform yourself...also know if you're just starting to have a cycle it's more then likely not going to be consistent..I'm 34 (started when I was 13) never consistent, it varies from month to month.
