I don't drink..but my hormones have been known to rage..but I've also been in a very good relationship for 20 years...I always ask myself if I have more to gain or lose in a situation. It's pretty hard to risk giving up 20 good years for 10 minutes of hot sex with a stranger.

if you really love the person in a relationship, then it's really not hard at all. and, if you know you have a problem when you consume alcohol, maybe you should try some self-control and cut down! easier said than done, but you need to decide what's most important to you....

Fidelty is a concious choice, a huge effort and a disciplined behaviour, not just a nice idea.

Romance, too, is a behaviour, not just a fairytale notion that 'just happens' all by itself.

If you maintain your relationship, communicate your needs in a compassionate way, validate your lovers' feelings and commit yourself to being faithful, monogamy can be very rewarding because trust is the greatest aphrodisiac.

We cannot have been the only ones in a long term relationship where no thought arose of straying from each other. Gwen and I were together for 42 years until parted by death.
There were the usual stresses of any family, but we managed somehow.
Kind regards, Rose P.

Well it is pretty difficult. I have lusted after women and men and im a christian. I make mistakes. I will admit it. I have hurt my wife many times and have made her cry. She has forgiven and shown love to me through forgiveness. I am doing my best to stay straight and fly right if you know what i mean. It does get pretty hard at times. My wife has done it in her mind as well as i have and we are both guilty of cheating. I know what your probably thinking. Why can't alot of christians admit their forgive pasts that Jesus forgave and admit they made mistakes. It's part of being human, making mistakes. christians are just as bad as the non-christians, unsaved. I make mistakes every day.

It is oft times very difficult.. particularly with roving eyes.. and alcohol does aid in keeping the eyes roving and of course making it more difficult to keep faithful

No, not at all. Try not to consume alcohol to such a degree that you can't control yourself then?

You could just drink with your significant other that way you won't worry about cheating. And if you have that big of a problem of being turned on when you drink, then don't drink publically.

So what is more important to you, your relationship or the booze? When you answer that question, you will find that it isn't so hard after all.
