I don't like Sixteen Candles. Molly's character is just not my personality. Her whole family just kind of forgot her birthday, and she didn't say anything. I would have been suspicious of a surprise party at first, but by the middle of the day, I would have asked what's going on. And I would have mentioned my sister chose her wedding to be the day after my birthday the first time it was brought up. As for the romance with that popular guy, I don't see it working. He doesn't know her at all, and teenage romance doesn't last. And Molly's last line, about already having everything she could have wished for, was maybe original back in the 40s when it first happened. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but I still stand by it.

I LOVED Sixteen Candles...

I liked Weird Science...It was more of a boys' movie than Sixteen Candles. Sixteen Candles was more targeted to girls from 12+ and up.

I adore Sixteen Candles. Weird Science is pretty funny, but I prefer a lot of other 80's movies over it.

I LOVE both of these movies...I think girls/women prefer Sixteen Candles and boys/men would prefer Weird Science.

Basically any movie done by Jon Waters during that era is an instant classic.

Other "Brat Pack" (any movie with Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall, etc.) movies like "Breakfast Club" and "St. Elmo's Fire" are classics as well.
