A sea anemone eats by first capturing its prey with its tentacles. These tentacles have things called cnidocytes on them that give the anemone a poisonous sting. The poisons employed are often neurotoxins that paralyze the prey. It then shoves this prey into a cavity that acts as a stomach. The waste and undigested matter is then excreted out of the same hole, making it serve as an anus as well as a mouth.

An anemone can capture prey with its sticky tentacles, but the majority of the popular ( and pretty ) anemones get most of their food from the symbiotic algae that gives them their colors.
