Would like to help you out.... but there are way too many things to consider without actually seeing where the hole is in relation to the door. You may be able to carefully pry the baseboard off and then cut a small notch in the drywall behind it about 1 1/2 inches above the wood floor (if it's carpet, the wood floor underneath the carpet). This will allow you to slide a piece of stiff wire ( straightened out coat hangers work good ) into the slot, hook the ring, and drag it out through the slot. Then you just replace and renail the base board trim to cover the notch you cut. Just don't cut the notch any higher than the baseboard trim. Magnets won't work ... wedding rings are gold...and gold is not magnetic.

Im not sure what hole you are talking about at the side of the doorway. But, do you have a job. Can you afford to pay someone, maybe a door and window company to come out and get it for you, they may need to remove the door.

Try the curve end of a hanger maybe, stick something like gum or something sticky on the end of the hanger to catch on to the ring. Have someone for sure hold a flashlight over the hole and the same stick you're referring to for sticking in the hole put something sticky at the end of it.

Make the hole bigger & get the ring, then fix the hole. Or fish hook & string, coat hanger, gum or a wad of goo on a stick, remove the door & frame get the ring & put the door & frame back.

Magnet.
If the ones you find aren't strong enough, buy some powerful ones online. Once you get the ring back, they're really fun to play around with. Good ones you can't even pull directly apart and have to slide off cost only about $30.

Hella sweet....

Geez... just tell her it's in there and let her and your dad, or a repairman cut the wall open. The wall would be so easy to fix, and she would be so grateful to finally have it back!

The wall is no big deal, the ring is!!!

try taking a paperclip and bending the stick side so it looks kind of like a hook. then take a sring and tie it to paper clip and pull the ring onto the paperclip and pull it out... hope it works.....;)

If the hole's shallow, try using a vacuum to suck it up. Then all you have to do is just open the bag/canister and pull it out.
