Relax. Your body is designed to be pregnant and to give birth. Just wait and see, you would be surprised. It all depends on your pelvis and its ability to accomodate the baby.

You probably won't need one, but they usually let you try to have the baby naturally unless there is a risk to the baby, mom or both.

Okay, first of all, measuring the baby from the OUTSIDE is a very very very unreliable way to determine the baby's actual size. On an ultrasound the size of the baby they guess at can be up to 4 pounds off in EITHER DIRECTION. There is no reason you should agree to a csection OR an induction. Just let your labor happen on its own. When you go into labor they will monitor the baby and you and if one of you starts to have problems during labor, sometimes csection will be needed but it's highly unlikely that your baby is some kind of 14 pounder hangin out in there. Don't worry.

No. But the baby might be born earlier than the due date. I am 35 weeks with a baby boy and my son is measuring 37 weeks. My doctor said everything is fine other than my son could be born two weeks earlier than his due date. I'm getting everything ready for the big day just in case he decides to make an early arrival.

OK I totaly agree with saraBMW, they might induce you early if they are concerned that the baby with be big but I highly dought that you'd need a c section. But if you do don't be affraid, the one thing I would recomend is to have the epidural that way your husband (or boyfriend) will be alloud in the room. I was in labour for 17 hours before they decided to give me and emergency c section and I couldn't make a rational decision I just wanted to pain to stop so they put me to sleep and my husband wasn't able to come in (I had no idea). I felt so guilty about that decision I was depressed about it for almost a year. Sorry enough about me.
Congradulation and best of luck with your successful delivery.

not necessarily. The baby can measure big at some points and normally at others. You could have hit a growth spurt. The doctor won't decide until you are very close to delivery and even then you'll probably go into labor before they would decide the baby wouldn't fit through your pelvis.

Don't agree to a C-Section unless your doctor can give you some very persuasive and life threatening reasons why it such an invasive procedure is necessary for either you or for your baby. Vaginally born babies live longer and are born healthier. The scientists are just realizing that perhaps some very vital hormones are released during vaginal birth and C-Section deprives an infant of this.

They only do C-sections when it's an emergency. Unless you request it. A lot of doctors will do it on request. There are a lot of articles out there about the amount of C-sections being preformed nowadays. I had one but it was emergency.

not necessarily... you could just be measuring big from extra fluid or something. they could do an ultrasound to see if its baby or something else making you measure large before they plan to do a c-section

Only if you have a problem when natural labor begins. Don't worry though they can be up to two pounds off on weight.

C-sections are performed in the event of an emergency and usually not determined until you are in actual labor.
