Why is that people hate Michael Bay movies so much? I personally feel he does what he's suppose to do. Make great, entertaining, action packed movies. Bad Boy's, The Island, the Soon to be realesed Transformers. There not meant to be "mind blowers," Just action films. So I don't get why everyone hates him so much. Please, someone explain.

OK,

All the complaints people make about the Hollywoodizing of events historical. Movies based on true stories that the movie industry alters to make better sales. no matter that their "historical movie" is no longer historical but fantasy. The Mind numbing stupidity and unrealism that pervades todays "Action Movies". Michael Bay is one of the Frontrunners responsible for that mess.

A Car hits a van in the corner bumper and goes flying 100' through the air doing 4 flips and exploding in a huge fireball.
HOLLYWOOD BS!

A Car hits a van in the corner bumper and spins around in a skiding 360 and crumples up into a pile of wreckage. Gas leaks from a ruptured tank and catches fire with a dull "whumph" and burns.
REALISTIC ACTION:

A Man gets shot with a large Caliber Handgun and goes flying back 20' though a plateglass window.
HOLLYWOOD BS

A Man gets shot with a Large Caliber handgun and gets knocked a staggering step backwards and crumples straight to the ground
REALISM.

I Love action movies, But I don't need to swallow the IGNORANT crap that hollywood thinks they have to shovel to sell movies. Its condesending and insulting on the part of hollywood to think they have to stupidify their movies for them to be attractive to me. That I'm not smart enough to enjoy an action movie with some modicum of realism.

Another Problem with Michael Bay films is actually so bad with him it's considered a trademark of his films. The Overwhelming soundtrack. During a movie, even an action movie, especially an action movie, the background music is supposed to compliment the action, to move our emotions along with the pacing of the action and the film as a whole. It's supposed to compliment and enhance. Not so in a Bay film. The music (while good) is so blaringly loud during the intense action scenes as to drown out any dialog and to have one scrambling for the remote to turn down the volume before they wake the neighbors!
Check out "The Rock" or "Armaggedon" for perfect examples of this. While the music is good, Its volume compared to the sound effects and dialog tracks is overpowering to the point of annoyance.
While entertaining in a mind numbing ignorant sort of way. Michael Bay, and other Directors like John Woo, are to Hollywood, what Jerry Springer is to TV.

Very much responsible for the "Dumbing Down of America"

The answer to your question lies in the motives of the director. He makes movies to make money. He (I believe) is a producer at heart. He has a hard time making movies to inspire or touch deep in the viewer's heart, rather he makes "things" that he thinks looks cool when patched together in a trailer. I think.

i admire him....yet i hate him too. Transformers a million and a pair of have been the two particularly particularly stable. He has the flair to be much extra constructive yet does not use it. In transformers 2 it replaced into kiddie in many things and could of been extra darker and "epic". in the event that they make a third one i wish he makes it lots darker and deeper and much less kiddie.
