Would the answer to the prob. be the same??

5 1/2 = 5+ 1/2 = (10 + 1)/2 = 11/2 = 5.5 .

The decimal 1/2 is equivalent to .5, therefore 5 and 1/2 is 5.5

you meant 5 x 1/2 = 5 x .5 = 2.5
if 5 and 1/2, so it's 5 + .5 = 5.5

5.5 because 5 and then 1/2 changed into a dececimal is .5 becaus 10 is the highest in decis but that would be 1. so 15 of ten is .5 example 2 1/5 changed in to decis is 1.2

changed to a decimal 5 1/2 is only 5.5 not 4 coz da answer will change. da decimal for 4 is 4.0
